Review

I was finally able to get my hands on some Miss Jessie's Curly Buttercreme and was in need of washing my hair so I decided to do a review. Miss Jessie's Curly Buttercreme (32.00 retail) is known to be "The Best Darn Buttercreme Period" and I was ready to test there theory. I washed and conditioned my hair and followed the directions. I sectioned my hair into fours and added the product to my hair while it was still wet. I loved the peppermint fragrance and the tingles in my scalp. I put two strand twists throughout my hair and then allowed them to air dry. I untwisted them and then put my hair in a Pony 'Fro. Here are the results.

Overall I gave Miss Jessie's Curly Buttercreme 4/5. I love the shine and definition that it gave my curls. My twists lasted a week and a half without having to be re twisted. Great experience and I would recommend this product.

Hair Rules Scavenger Hunt

So recently I participated in a Scavenger Hunt. Hair Rules put a post up on facebook that quotes, "Ladies the Big Scavenger Hunt is on ... We need proof that Hair Rules in in your Walgreens with the address of the store and the first person for each location will win an 8oz product. Come on ladies get snapping and posting."

So I jumped into my car and sped to the nearest Walgreens on Veterans Memorial in Mableton, Ga.  I got my camera out and tagged them a picture proving that it was at that location. They sent me a message back telling me to send them my address as I was the 1st one to send a picture in that location. Now waiting on my 8oz product to come in the mail so I can do a review on the product. So like they said ladies get sanpping. Good luck to all the particpants

The Beginning of this Natural Journey

Hello everyone. I wanted to introduce myself. I'm The Naturalista Next Door and I am fairly new to natural hair. I wanted to create this blog for those of you that are Natural , new Naturals and those that are transitioning and thinking about becoming Natural.

When I was thinking about going natural in 2010 I was not ready. I had been transitioning for 4 months and the curly crack pulled me back in, as it was a convience and I felt it made my hair more manageable. Trying hard to deny the fact it was causing my hair to weaken and break off. Shedding and thinning, my hair overall was not healthy.

I reached my breaking point on March 17, 2012. The two textures were killing and I was not happy with my hair. My hair was not working with me at all. I called a beautician that my friend recommended and asked if she could do my big chop. As I took what seemed to be a long ride to her shop, I started second guessing it. Speaking to her I was able to relax and she was not scissor happy person. She cut off all the permed ends.

I was scared of how people would feel since my hair was short. My mom cried because she had never seen my hair that short. When my son saw my hair he said, "Mommy, you have cool hair." His acceptance meant so much to me. The stares were weird for a while but my hair and my self love grew. Finally I was accepting and loving the new Natural me.
